Share of voice (SoV) is essentially your crucial performance metrics against those of your competitors or Key Performance Indicators. It details the percentage of mentions picked up from monitored brands of the Fast Foodindustry.“Share” is self-explanatory, “Voice” is a little trickier because it implies that people are saying things. In its simplest form, SoV helps you understand how your brand or company is performing in comparison to your competitors.
Daily Activity represents the volume of mentions picked up by days of the week across four time intervals (12AM – 6AM, 6AM – 12PM, 12PM – 6PM and 6PM – 12AM) for monitored brands.
Popular Sources outline the share of mentions picked up for each monitored brand of the Fast Food industry by sources.
Methodology
This report was conducted for the period 1st May to 31stMay2017, where our tool scanned the internet from news websites to social networks in Mauritius. Real time information for instance brand mentions, complaints and concerns were picked up to derive business value in complex, expressive, and sometimes-confusing human language. The report was done for the Fast Food industry whereby we have monitored fivebrands namely: KFC, McDonald’s, Ocean Basket, Steers and Nandoson a real time basis. The analysis is broken into Part A which details SoV, Daily Activity and Popular Sources for the five monitored brands and Part B which focus on the three most popular brands of the Fast Food industry.
Part A – Industry Analysis
Share of voice
As depicted by the doughnut, KFC has led the race on the online platform followed by Ocean Basket and McDonald’s with 2,017mentions, 160mentions and 51 mentions and average daily mentions of 65, 5 and 2 respectively.
Daily Activity
The highest activity for the monitored brands of the Fast Food sector was mostly recorded from 12PM to 6PM on Fridays (1,046 mentions) followed by 6PM to 12AM on Saturdays ( 532mentions)and 6AM to 12PM on Sundays (190 mentions) respectively.
Popular Sources
During the period under review, the highest number of mentions picked up for the monitored brands were from Facebook (2,257 mentions) followed by Images (7 mentions) and Twitter (2 mentions).
Part B – Brand Analysis
KFC Brand
As depicted by the line chart, the highest volume of daily mentions picked up for KFC brand was 981 followed by 471 and 126 on 19th, 20th and 21st May respectively.
As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for KFC brand was mostly recorded from 12PM to 6PM on Fridays (999 mentions) followed by 6PM to 12AM on Saturdays (488 mentions) and 6AM to 12PM on Sundays (166 mentions) respectively.
As shown below, KFC brand was mostly present on Facebook (2,011mentions) where it has done promotional activities for its products and organised a competition during the month of May.
Ocean Basket Brand
As depicted by the line chart, the highest volume of daily mentions picked up for Ocean Basket brand was 20 on both 23rd and 24th May followed by 17 on 5th May.
As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for Ocean Basket brand was mostly recorded from6PM to 12AMon Fridays (34 mentions) and Tuesdays (25 mentions) followed by 12PM to 6PM on Wednesdays (28 mentions) and 6AM to 12PM on Saturdays (25 mentions).
As shown below, Ocean Basket brand was present only on Facebook (160 mentions) where it has promoted its products, ran a competition and posted their wishes for Mother’s Day.
McDonald’s Brand
As depicted by the line chart, McDonald’s brand picked up11 mentions on 11th followed by 7 mentions on 20th and 4 mentions on several other days during the month of May.
As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for McDonald’s brand was mostly recorded from 6 PM to 12AMonboth Thursdays (13 mentions) and Saturdays (12 mentions) followed by 6AM to 12PM on Tuesdays (12 mentions)
As shown below, McDonald’s brand was present only on Facebook (51 mentions) where it has done promotional activities for its products and posted interactive contents to engage its fans.
