Sentiment analysis reveals KFC as most popular online brand presence [SoV] for the Fast Food sector in Mauritius for August 2016.

In our brand analytics for the Fast Food industry of Mauritius, KFC leads the online presence by capturing the highest share of voice (SoV) for the month of August 2016.

Metric details

 Brand Analytics tracks the performance of your brand, measures its competitiveness and specific KPIs on the online platform.

Share of voice (SoV) is essentially your crucial performance metrics against those of your competitors ​ or Key Performance Indicators. It details the percentage of mentions picked up from monitored brands of the Fast Food industry. “Share” is self-explanatory, “Voice” is a little trickier because it implies that people are saying things. In its simplest form, SoV helps you understand how your brand or company is performing in comparison to your competitors.

​Daily Activity represents the volume of mentions picked up by days of the week across four time intervals (12AM – 6AM, 6AM – 12PM, 12PM – 6PM and 6PM – 12AM) for monitored brands.

Popular Sources outline the share of mentions picked up for each monitored brand of the Fast Food industry by sources.

Methodology 

This report was conducted for the period August 1st to August 31st 2016, where our tool scanned the internet from news websites to social networks in Mauritius. Real time information for instance brand mentions, complaints and concerns were picked up to derive business value in complex, expressive, and sometimes-confusing human language. The report was done for the Fast Food industry whereby we have monitored five brands namely: KFC, McDonald’s, Ocean Basket, Nandos and Steers on a real time basis. The analysis is broken into Part A which details SoV, Daily Activity and Popular Sources for the five monitored brands and Part B which focus on the three most popular brands of the Fast Food industry.

 Part A – Industry Analysis

 Share of voice

 As depicted by the doughnut, KFC has led the race on the online platform followed by Mc Donald’s and Ocean basket with 4,436 mentions, 172 mentions and 113 mentions where their average daily mentions were 143, 6 and 4 respectively.

Daily Activity

 The highest activity for the monitored brands of the Fast Food sector was recorded mostly from 12PM to 6PM on Fridays (2,678 mentions) followed by 6AM to 12PM on Saturdays (1,036 mentions) and Sundays (493 mentions) respectively.

Popular Sources

 During the period under review, the highest number of mentions picked up for the monitored brands were from Facebook (4,581 mentions) followed by Instagram (4 mentions) and Twitter (1 mention).

Part B – Brand Analysis

As depicted by the line chart, the highest volume of daily mentions picked up for KFC was 2,431 followed by 856 and 370 on 12th, 13th and 14th of August respectively.

As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for KFC was mostly from 12PM to 6PM (2,618 mentions) followed by 6AM to 12PM on Saturdays (1,000 mentions) and Sundays (420 mentions) respectively.

 As shown below, KFC was mostly present on Facebook (4,428 mentions) where it has done several promotional activities for its “Products”, “Youth Day Contest” and “Special Offers” during the month under review.

Mc Donald’s

 As depicted by the line chart, the highest volume of daily mentions picked up for Mc Donald’s was 47 followed by 22 and 13 on 17th, 21st  and  6th of August respectively.

As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for Mc Donald’s was mostly from 6PM to 12 AM on Fridays (23 mentions) followed by 6AM to 12PM on Wednesdays (59 mentions) and Sundays (39 mentions) respectively.

As shown below, Mc Donald’s brand was mostly popular on Facebook (171 mentions) where it has done promotional activities for several “Products”, “Childhood Games”, “Special Offers”, “Recruitment Adverts” and sponsorship for “2016 Olympic Games”.

Ocean Basket

As depicted by the line chart, the highest volume of daily mentions picked up for Ocean Basket was 14 followed by 9 and 8 on 21st, 10th and 3rd of August respectively.

As illustrated by the column chart, the highest daily activity for Ocean Basket was mostly from 12PM to 6PM on Sundays (18 mentions) followed by 6PM to 12AM on Thursdays (21 mentions) and Wednesdays (20 mentions) respectively.

As shown below, Ocean Basket was mostly geared towards Facebook (112 mentions) where it has done several promotional activities for its Products, “Winter Specials”, Special Offers, Announcement of Contest Winner  for “Vinn Lapess”, “Sushi Revolution” and “Happy Friday” during the month of August.
